Oregon Premier Futsal Academy
U9-U19 (2016-2007)

A 3-month indoor program for players born 2016–2007 (U9 through High School), held at Oregon Premier Futsal.

The season includes:
  • Up to 10 training sessions on Mondays and Fridays (Trainings start November 10th or 14th depending on age group)
  • 8 weekend games from November to January
  • Teams formed by birth year (no co-ed teams)
  • Season cost: $525
  • Uniforms must be purchased online through Tursi's (estimated cost $99). Players with uniforms from last year do not need to purchase new ones.

Unlike our Technical Academy, which focuses on maximizing touches for outdoor play, the Futsal Academy immerses players in true futsal training and competition. This program emphasizes futsal-specific skills, strategies, and fast-paced gameplay — helping athletes sharpen footwork, improve tactical awareness, and make quicker, smarter decisions on the court.

Our experienced coaches bring passion, expertise, and a proven track record of developing players who thrive in competitive environments. They create a positive, challenging atmosphere where players can grow technically and mentally while enjoying the excitement of futsal.

OPF Director of Futsal - Joaquim Capuia

Joaquim Capuia's futsal journey began at a young age, playing outdoors in North East Portland. His passion for the sport deepened during family visits to Brazil, where he was introduced to Futsal Salão. When futsal facilities opened in Portland, his experience truly flourished. As a self-proclaimed pioneer of futsal in the region, Joaquim played for Sudaca FC, one of the area's prominent teams, and many of his former teammates continue to excel in the sport.

Co-founding Finezza Futsal with JB Cunha, Joaquim brought his vision for futsal to the westside of Portland. Now, as the Director of Futsal at Oregon Premier Futsal, he is excited to bring more opportunities for players on the eastside to fall in love with the game. His focus extends beyond just futsal, emphasizing the development of technical skills, a cornerstone of success in the sport.

As both director and coach, Joaquim is eager to pass on his knowledge to the next generation. With the sport growing rapidly, he is proud to be part of that evolution, helping to shape the future of futsal. What he loves most about the game is the fast-paced action, the quick decision-making required in tight spaces, and the sheer joy that comes with every match.

OPF Director of Futsal Development & Curriculum - Joao (JB) Cunha

Born and raised in Brazil, Joao Cunha began playing competitive futsal at the age of 6, progressing through club and high school levels before moving to Oregon in 2003. A few years later, when Portland Futsal opened, Joao and his college outdoor team were invited to a pick-up game, which led to his involvement in launching the youth and adult training programs at Portland Futsal.

Since then, Joao has been actively engaged in a variety of futsal projects as both a player and coach. His experience includes working with Finezza Futsal, US Futsal ID Camps, futsalclinics.com, USMNT trials, Portland City Futsal Club, and AMF (Asociación Mundial de Futsal) World Cup Qualifiers. Joao also represented at two AMF World Cups, in 2017 and 2019.

Now, Joao is excited to be working at Oregon Premier Futsal and alongside Coach Joaquim Capuia once again, contributing to the continued growth of futsal in both the city and the state.
